Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Since graduating, Heather has worked in various settings which include domestic violence shelters, group homes for children with behavioral and emotional needs, hospital emergency rooms and outpatient practice settings to include in home therapy at individual residences, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. With over 17 years experience across various settings, Heather is competent in working with a variety of clients from all populations. Her work includes assessing and working with the family system whenever possible. It is within the family system that we identify strengths and weaknesses and use those to put together a treatment plan that is individually specific to each person’s needs, natural supports and desired outcomes.
Heather believes in meeting the client where they are and finds this to be the best approach to a successful therapeutic alliance. Interventions that incorporate individual beliefs and consideration is a key component to her approach as is utilizing individually specific techniques whether it’s goal-oriented therapy, brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, or motivational interviewing.
